  29.      The IPX shipped with NetWare Lite (IPXODI) is not new and is not special
  30.      to NetWare Lite.  Novell has made a general decision to convert from
  31.      "linked" IPX to IPXODI.
  32.  
  33.      IPXODI is functionally identical to the linked version of IPX, but the
  34.      LSL (which is run with IPXODI) offers multiple-protocol and MLID
  35.      capabilities.  NetWare Lite can be run on top of either (but not both)
  36.      linked IPX or IPXODI.  STARTNET.BAT, which is created as part of the
  37.      NetWare Lite installation, loads LSL, (the odi driver) and IPXODI by
  38.      default, as follows:

  40.           LSL
  41.           <ODI Driver> (i.e. NE2000)
  42.           IPXODI A
  43.  
  44.      Linked IPX
  45.  
  46.      A linked IPX can be used in place of the ODI drivers.  It is generated
  47.      using WSGEN.EXE which can be found on Compuserve.

  49.      CompuServe
  50.  
  51.      A free CompuServe membership can be obtained by dialing (800)848-8199 in
  52.      the U.S. and (614)457-0802 outside the U.S. (ask for Representative 200). 
  53.      CompuServe will provide NetWare Lite users with fifteen dollars worth of
  54.      credit toward online services at no charge.

  56.      To get WSGEN files from CompuServe, do the follow procedure:
  57.  
  58.      1.   Type  GO NSD
  59.      2.   Get the password from someone at Novell technical support
  60.           (900)454-5483.
  61.      3.   After you are in NSD, download WSGEN.ZIP.  (This ZIP file contains
  62.           the NetWare Lite patches.)

  65.      Note:  You must know the name of the file that you are going to download
  66.      because CompuServe does not give you a list of files that can be
  67.      downloaded.

  69.           Note:  You must have PKUNZIP.EXE to unzip WSGEN.ZIP.  If you do not
  70.           have PKUNZIP.EXE, you can get it from CompuServe.  It is located
  71.           inside PKZ110.EXE, which is another file that must be downloaded.

  73.           a.   To download PKZ110.EXE, create a directory called PKZIP (either
  74.                on floppy diskette or on your hard drive).
  75.           b.   Go to library 15 of NOVLIB and download PKZ110.EXE.
  76.           c.   Then, move PKZ110.EXE into the PKZIP directory.
  77.           d.   Type  PKZ110

  79.                PKZ110.EXE will create PKUNZIP.EXE (and other programs that can
  80.                be used for archiving functions).

  82.      4.   When you have PKUNZIP.EXE, you can unzip WSGEN.ZIP.
  83.      5.   Put WSGEN.ZIP into the PKZIP directory.
  84.      6.   Next, type the following:

  86.                PKUNZIP WSGEN.ZIP   <path where you want the files to be 
  87.                                    copied to>
  88.  
  89.      Example:  "PKUNZIP WSGEN.ZIP C:\WSGEN"

  91.           The WSGEN files will be copied to the directory that you specify. 
  92.           Novell recommends that you copy them to a floppy diskette.  This
  93.           way, you will have a copy of the patches in a distinct and
  94.           identifiable place.

  96.      Using WSGEN
  97.  
  98.      1.   You must have a *.OBJ file and a *.LAN file that is card specific to
  99.           generate an IPX.
  100.  
  101.      2.   Put these files into a separate directory on your hard drive called
  102.           \WSGEN.
  103.  
  104.      3.   Copy the WSGEN.EXE file into this directory.  Run WSGEN from the
  105.           ROOT DIRECTORY by typing the following:

  107.                \WSGEN\WSGEN
  108.  
  109.      4.   Follow the directions to generate a linked IPX.

  111.      Using a Linked IPX
  112.  
  113.      If a linked IPX is being loaded (like in your AUTOEXEC.BAT), then LSL,
  114.      the ODI driver, and IPXODI should be taken out of the STARTNET.BAT file.
